Yevgen Ponomarov was born on May 7, 1975, in a small village in the eastern part of Soviet Ukraine. By education, he is a train and station radio communications electromechanic. Currently, he lives in Prague. He is married.
Since the age of 13, he has been passionate about the Rubik’s Cube, although before that his interests were diverse: modeling, radio electronics, astronomy. The appearance of the cube changed everything — all other hobbies took a back seat. At that time, he was unable to master the puzzle by traditional methods and had to search for an alternative approach. That’s how the “Simplest Method” came about, although back then it was not yet called that. Yevgeny solved the cube mostly intuitively but always with a positive result.
Over time, his interest in the Rubik’s Cube significantly decreased — a new phase of life began: family, work, raising children. However, the cube always remained on his bookshelf. Only years later, when his children grew up, did he find time to return to his former passion. This is how the author’s method described in this book was born — the result of many years of observation, a search for simplicity, and a desire to make the Rubik’s Cube accessible to everyone, even those who have never held it in their hands.
The book was originally written in Russian and adapted into English and Ukrainian so that as many people as possible could discover the joy of solving the cube.
The author’s main goal is to inspire readers to new discoveries, convey the joy of overcoming difficulties, and show that what seems complex can be simple. Yevgeny values honesty, simplicity, and sincerity in everything.
